Crunchy wasn’t conceived in a meeting room. It was born from a practical question that construction workers ask themselves every day: why should I pay to dispose of material that I could reuse?
Answering that question has kept us busy for years. The result is a range of crushers designed, built, and perfected entirely in Italy by a team of mechanical engineers who understand the difference between a machine that simply works and one that stands the test of time.
Meccanio Srl was founded in Rome in 2002 by three mechanical engineers with a specific goal: to develop technical solutions that respond to real problems, not catalog requirements.
In twenty years of activity, the company has worked in various sectors, accumulated design experience, and refined a working method based on a simple principle: first you build, then you test, then you break.
Then it gets better.
Then it is rebuilt.
In 2023, after years in which the Crunchy brand had become the heart of everything, the choice was natural: the company became Meccanio Tecnologie and focused all its resources on the design and production of crushers.
Three different skills, developed over years of parallel work, which in practice interact with each other every day.
Antonio Esposito is a mechanical engineer and holds a PhD in Mechanical Systems Design. In practice, he is someone who is not satisfied with a solution that “works well enough”: he wants to understand why it works, under what conditions it stops working, and how to avoid this.
Paolo Ciuffo has the same educational background, but brought to Meccanio experience gained directly in the field of applied research, as a technologist and designer at a company affiliated with E.N.E.A. His approach is that of someone accustomed to validating, measuring, and documenting.
The Crunchy project stems from a vision shared by the three founders from the outset: to make a concrete contribution to environmental sustainability in the construction sector, starting with the most common and costly problem faced by every company, namely the disposal of waste materials.
The goal was not to build a large machine. It was to build the right machine: compact, transportable, with the performance of an industrial crusher in a size that fits into an apartment undergoing renovation or on a construction site with limited space.
Each model in the range is the result of iterative cycles of design, testing in real conditions, and refinement. There is no “definitive” version of a Crunchy machine: there is only the best version we have been able to make today, knowing that tomorrow we can do better.
All production is Made in Italy, supervised directly in Pomezia at every stage. No third-party assembly, no outsourcing of critical parts. When a machine leaves our workshop, we know every weld.
The team now consists of about ten people. It's not a large organization, but it's compact enough to maintain control over what matters: build quality, direct customer service, and the opportunity to test the shredder before purchasing.
